The degree one incorrectly assigns cause to others for the negative effects he or she feels even though he or she may have created or caused the problem or could have averted it. Not being accountable for those areas the person is in charge of. Also, a belief that results couldn’t be helped, changed or caused.

How Blamers Act

A blamer will have a difficult time understanding the concept of self projecting his or her own faults on others. In other words, they will not consider the fact they did something (usually similar to what they are accusing the other person of doing) that caused the other person to react in a negative way.

A blamer may react too quickly to the things that happen to them with little willingness to inspect what he or she might have done to cause what happened. They are very defensive. If they have a strong critical side they will complain a lot about things including those they caused themselves. For example, they buy a second-hand piece of equipment and complain continuously about their faults without taking action to correct the matter. They would certainly not take responsibility for their lack of due diligence before the purchase.
